Each class is rooted in the basic principles of alignment and also includes an open, circular and creative approach to the asanas: no two classes are the same! Her approach is infused with the wisdom she learned from studying in India as well as her bodywork and dance therapy practices. Simple yet profound presence in the body and mind are the cornerstones of Elizabeth’s yoga classes.
Elizabeth began studying yoga as a teenager and after living in India for a year knew she wanted to become a certified teacher. Her first teacher training program in 2001 was with Tai Sheridan, a Zen priest and yogi. This training was 8 months long and included Buddhist meditation practices as well as hatha yoga. She has since completed a Yoga Therapy training with Janice Gates and Mirka Kraftsow, a massage therapy certification, a Prenatal Teacher training program, attended multiple workshops over the years, and completed a comprehensive Anusara immersions with Laura Christenson. Sarah Powers has also been an influential teacher as well as Nikki Estrada, James Higgins, and Eric Shiffman. She is registered with Yoga Alliance. Elizabeth brings a warmth and enthusiasm to each class that both nurtures and challenges her students. She offers a wealth of knowledge which stems from her training in Vipassana and Zen meditation, Yoga Therapy, as well as her joy of Vinyasa and Restorative yoga practices. When Elizabeth, a Marin native, isn’t on her yoga mat, she can be found hiking in the hills or tending her medicinal herb and organic veggie garden.
